Our History

In 2008, NHLG offered senior citizens its first health literacy workshop in a culturally diverse, low-income housing complex. Since then, we’ve continued to reach medically vulnerable communities through partnerships with public libraries, community centers, and other public housing complexes where people live, work, and play.

In 2017, NHLG gained its tax-exempt status as a registered nonprofit organization with 501 (c) (3) status.

In 2019, NHLG became a member organization of the Network of the National Library of Medicine. As a Network member, NHLG has leveraged support and training resources to educate the public.

NHLG will continue seeking community partnerships to improve public health and education.
